Fedorov: The Ice is Like Sandpaper

After a strong-willed victory over the Swedes, Russian National Team forward Sergey Fedorov noted that his interaction with his line partners is improving.

-"Today I was able to control the puck in our zone, receive a pass from a defender and find the wingers" said Fedorov. "Believe it or not, the ice is like sandpaper, which keeps slowing the puck down. You have to constantly look and feel what is going on down below. This is a major distraction, and since the rink is small you can't develop a large attack."

Do such difficult victories help to develop a quality in the team which will be useful in the final stages of the championship?

"Difficult matches always rally a team. Leaders arise in different game situations. Coaches, I think, make the right decision in sending out different combinations on the power play. In such games you start to understand who is capable of handling the stress."
