Semin has no beef with Bykov

Semin walked into the hotel lobby wearing shorts and flip-flops, as if the world championship was being held in sunny Florida rather than in Quebec, where frozen mountains of snow are on the ground. “I can’t go out on the streets dressed like this” explained Semin, “but I can walk the the hallways”. Russian National Team head coach Vyacheslav Bykov: I myself would not allow Ovechkin on the ice without insurance

ONLY 3 DAYS UNTIL THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

In an interview with reporters from ‘Soviet Sport’, Vyacheslav Bykov refused to confirm that Ovechkin is unable to train with the National Team without insurance. He furthermore explained that the captain of the national team will be named by the coaching staff, and not chosen by the players. One of the candidates is Sergey Fedorov. (more…)

Alexander Ovechkin: “We have a great team, but the ice is simply horrific”

Russian National forward Alexander Ovechkin has admitted that he doesn’t care for the quality of the ice in the Colisee Pepsi Arena in Quebec, where his team will play it’s first championship game tomorrow. With the issue of insurance payment resolved, the Washington forward participated in his first on-ice training on the eve of the match, after which he expressed his disappointment during an interview with the “Sport” TV channel.
